Animal Vocabulary Games

Three animal vocabulary games

I use these games as warm ups, but they would also work well as stand alone activities.

  1. Animal Hunt

How many animals can you/your team find in 2/5 minutes?

Use the letters to find the names of animals. You can repeat letters. There are over 20 animals to find in your hunt!

2. How many animals can you find?

Go through the vocabulary list to learn pronunciation and any new words. Then give students/ teams 2/5 minutes to memorize the meanings.

Who can identify the most animals?

Animal body parts

Students/teams have 3/5 minutes to learn as many animal body parts as possible.

They challenge each other with questions. A point for a good question, 2 points for a correct answer. For introductory levels, the challenges can be limited to closed questions. For higher levels, the questions can be open, and an extra sentence it needed to gain the points.
