Future Simple – Going to: Form and Usage

We use ‘going to’ + the base form of a verb to talk about the future.

FORM:
Affirmative
SUBJECT+TO BE+GOING TO+BASE FORM OF A VERB
Camilla is going to open a clothing store next month.

Negative
SUBJECT+TO BE+NOT+GOING TO+BASE FORM OF A VERB
We aren’t going to dress up for the costume party.

Interrogative
TO BE+SUBJECT+GOING TO+BASE FORM OF A VERB
Are you going to go to the mall with your brother next week?

Some things to remember about ‘going to’:
1.) Don’t forget to add ‘to be’!
2.) We can make contractions with the subject and ‘to be’, the way we do for Present Simple:
I am = I’m
you are = you’re
he is = he’s
she is = she’s
it is = it’s
we are = we’re
they are = they’re
