MUCH IN THE AFFIRMATIVE
You will occasionally run into much in the affirmative in very formal English.
There is much to be said for freedom. = Freedom is very good.
Much is made of the fact that the suspect lied. = People consider it very important that that the suspect lied.
You will also encounter it as an adverb, as a modifier with comparatives.
I enjoyed the party very much. = I really enjoyed the party.
The boy is much taller than he was the last time I saw him.
Much is often preceded by the words very, so, too, this, and that.
